From MGM to Cineworld

So, in case you're wondering, some of the oldest Cineworld multiplex cinemas in operation originated as MGM before becoming Virgin and later UGC.

Cineworld Unlimited was introduced 25 years and one month ago

Well, it originated as UGC Unlimited membership until 2004 when Cineworld bought the UK cinemas of the French cinema chain. Unlimited is also a precursor to the Virgin Megapass membership under UGC's predecessor Virgin Cinemas.

It opened five days after I was born. December 12, 1996 to be exact. It has gone by various names: Virgin Cinemas (1996-2000), UGC Cinemas (2000-2005), Cineworld (2005-2006), Empire Cinemas (2006-2023) and now Omniplex Cinemas (2024-present).
