On October 1, 2013, the terrestrial television feed of the Brazilian MTV closed to make way for TV Abril, before being relaunched as a basic cable television on the same day.
Did you know that Italian TV channel TV8 had its roots as a music channel? Yep, the channel was launched as Videomusic in 1984. The channel would later be rebranded as TMC2 after being bought by Telemontecarlo (now La7) in 1994 and then became MTV Italy in 1997 before that channel was split into two in 2015 with MTV8 and MTV Next and MTV8 would become TV8 a year later.
The eight channels in question and as mentioned on the Anime Superhero thread "Closed TV channels you miss.": Cartoon Network Too, CNX/Toonami UK, ABC1, TMF/Viva UK, Trouble, Bravo UK, People+Arts Portugal and Discovery Kids UK. Honourable mentions being Sol Música Portugal, Fox UK, Universal TV, Vintage TV, Freesports/Viaplay Xtra and Eurosport UK.
It's none other than Channel 4's Film4. The channel was launched in November 1998 as a pay-TV channel before becoming free-to-view in 2006. It's also the name of the channel's namesake production company which was founded in 1982 as Film on Four.
