Did you know that Ford almost bought Ferrari?

So, back in 1963, Ford announced plans to acquire the Italian luxury carmaker as founder Enzo Ferrari wanted to focus more on the racing side of the company and the deal was revealed in full on May 21, where once the acquisition was finalised, the automobile side would be called Ford-Ferrari and the racing side would be called Ferrari-Ford. However, the acquisition never materialised as Enzo, who initially approved it, discovered a clause that the racing team to request its funds from Ford, feeling it would threaten his autonomy.
Because of this, Ford would create their own racing car to compete against Ferrari called the GT40.
